Q. What is a credit union?

A. Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives owned by their members. Credit unions serve the needs of their members and not those of outside shareholders. All members have equal voting rights, regardless of the amount of their deposits.

Q. How is a credit union different from a bank?

A. Banks are for-profit institutions in business to earn a profit for their stockholders. Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives operated solely for the benefit of its members. Credit unions typically offer the same products and services that other financial institutions offer, with lower or no fees. Most importantly credit unions are known for the excellent service we provide each and every member.

Q. Who regulates credit unions?

A. The State of Florida regulates state-chartered credit unions like Florida Central. The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the Federal Government, insures our members' deposits up to $250,000 and separately insures traditional and Roth IRA accounts up to $250,000.

Q. Does Floridacentral offer Internet Banking?

A. Yes! With your account number and Call 24 PIN (Personal Identification Number), simply sign into online banking to get started. During enrollment, you can customize your User ID and Password. Once enrolled, you can enjoy a variety of free services including eStatements, Alerts, Institution to Institution transfers, scheduled and recurring transfers, and much more! Also, you can access Bill Pay by clicking on the Bill Pay button after signing in. Bill pay is free for all checking account holders.

Q. Are the funds I place in Floridacentral insured?

A. Floridacentral Credit Union provides its members with the highest combination of federal/private share savings deposit insurance available. Your accounts are insured up to $250,000 for your combined share accounts and $250,000 for Individual Retirement Accounts. The $250,000 coverage, of each of these types of accounts, is provided by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the Federal Government.

Q. How can I access my account without visiting a branch?

A. You can do most all of your banking without ever visiting a branch by using Internet Banking and Bill Pay, direct deposit, ATMs, Call 24 Telephone Banking, your debit card, and by mail.

Q. Can I get information about my account by phone?

A. Floridacentral offers you two ways to get your account information by phone. You can speak with our Member Services Team by calling (813) 879-3333 or (800) 528-3330. Our representatives are available Monday - Thursday, 8:00am-5:00pm, and Friday 8:00am-6:00pm, Eastern time. You can receive your account information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by calling our Call 24 Telephone Banking at (813) 874-2424 or (800) 444-1124.

Q. What can I do if my debit card with the MasterCard logo becomes lost or stolen?

A. If your debit card with the Mastercard logo becomes lost or stolen you can deactivate it by calling 1-800-449-7728.

Q. What can I do if my ATM card is lost or stolen?

A. If your ATM card is lost or stolen, you can deactivate it by calling Call 24 at (813) 874-2424 or (800) 444-1124 and selecting option six.

Q. Does Floridacentral offer overdraft protection?

A. Yes! Your checking account is setup to automatically pull money from your savings account in the case of non-sufficient funds. Overdraft will not take your savings account below the $5.00 minimum balance required. We also offer an overdraft line of credit.

Q. When are the deposits I make available?

A. All deposits made in the branch are available immediately unless the teller informs you of a hold placed on a check. Deposits placed in a night drop or ATM will not be posted until the next business day and checks may be subject to a hold of two or more business days. Direct deposited items will be available the morning the direct deposit is posted.

Q. How do I set up direct deposit of my payroll check?

A. After you have established your account, you will need to give your employer your account number, as well as the credit union's routing and transit number. The easiest way to accomplish this is to give your employer a cancelled check or blank deposit slip. You can also contact us to get our routing and transit number and your account number. NOTE: You can only have your check directly deposited if your employer offers direct deposit to its employees.

Q. How do I set up other direct deposits?

A. After you have established your account, you will need to give the agency or company from whom you are receiving the direct deposit your account number and our routing and transit number. The easiest way to accomplish this is to give them a cancelled check or blank deposit slip. You can also contact us to get that information. NOTE: You can only have your check directly deposited if direct deposit is offered by the check issuer (i.e., Social Security Administration, a retirement fund, your employer).

Q. What is the difference between my balance and my available balance?

A. All members must maintain a minimum share balance of $5.00. This remains in your share account as long as the account is open. Your balance represents all funds in your account including this minimum deposit amount, checks deposited with holds on the funds, and any other pledges on the account (i.e. secured loans or credit cards). The available balance is the actual amount available for withdrawal.

Q. Are wire transfers possible to and from my Floridacentral accounts?

A. Floridacentral can both send and receive wire transfers to and from your accounts. We offer both international and domestic wire transfers.

Q. What if I have a savings account only with a balance of $500 or less?

A. Members with a "savings account only" relationship will enjoy the benefits of a Value relationship. There will be a $3.00 monthly service charge if his/her combined deposit and/or loan balances are $500 or below.

Q. Which checking accounts earn dividends?

A. Only the Kasasa Cash and Ultimate Checking accounts earn dividends.

Q. What is the "Professional Financial Consultation?"

A. The "Professional Financial Consultation" is through Floridacentral Financial/Raymond James Financial Services.

Q. When will the monthly service charges be assessed?

A. The monthly service charges will be assessed the last day of the month.
