HELOC FAQs

Have questions about home equity lines of credit? We’re here to help.

A HELOC typically starts with an introductory rate, then converts to a variable rate tied to the Wall Street Journal Prime Rate after the introductory period ends.

A HELOC is revolving credit you can draw from as needed, similar to a credit card. A Home Equity Loan gives you a one-time lump sum with a fixed rate and fixed payment. See our Home Equity Loans page to compare.

A HELOC is a revolving line of credit secured by your home’s equity. During the draw period, you can borrow funds up to your approved credit limit, repay what you’ve borrowed, and access available funds again as needed. After the draw period ends, you repay the remaining balance according to the terms of your HELOC.

A HELOC can be used for many purposes, including home improvements, debt consolidation, education expenses, major purchases, business expenses, and other significant financial needs.

The amount you may qualify to borrow depends on factors such as your home’s available equity, loan-to-value ratio, creditworthiness, income, and other lending requirements.
